The Kitchen Garden

As a sideline to the main focus of this blog, namely Granny Robertson’s Cookbook, I have in the past four years been growing my own fruit, vegetables and herbs.

Therefore a diary of my means, methods, successes and failures would not be out of place here. I currently have an apple tree, a plum tree, a loganberry bramble, raspberries, blueberries, blackcurrants, gooseberries, strawberries (wild & cultivated) and rhubarb.

I grow sage (purple and lemon), thyme, chives, mint, laurel (bay) and oregano.

This year, as the season progresses, I shall be planting potatoes, tomatoes, kale, carrots, runner beans, peas, beetroot, red cabbage, peppers, courgettes, parsnips, onions (mainly green salad) and leeks.

In the aftermath of the winter my garden is not a sight to be seen! My greenhouse and shed? Forget it!

I shall, therefore, refrain from submitting any photos at this stage. These will follow as and when I can get out and begin work. There’s a horrendous amount of burning and digging to come yet.

My dogs will happily lend a paw, though not necessarily in the right place at the right time, which is fine by me. On that note I shall leave you to admire them and close for now.
